The Performer is close to the audience. I am rather a character than I have a part, as the part of a performer is not completely determined. As the street performer I do know who I am and I react to the passerby, to the actual situation and therefore nothing is really defined. I play a no-good, an old woman and many more characters during the show with the band ‘d’Gëlle Fraen’. The music of the 20’s and their stories are always the same but the moments in between turn out to be slightly different from show to show.
With ‘Finestra Kollektiv’, we the performers go a step further. Language becomes more important because we actually have something to say, a feedback, a compliment or show a feeling. People are mirrored a truth.
Me as performer of the part of ‘Marcolfa’, Brighella’s greedy and angry wife, a character of the Commedia dell’Arte, where her text is mine, should react to what the audience is running through. My text is determined but still it can vary if the situation demands it. The end of the play always stays the same. This ‘Marcolfa’ can be seen in the play ‘Fausses Confidences’, produced by the French company Théâtre à Dire, Thionville. All I learnt for and about the job of the performer is plunged in my clown [Pəʊ]. (www.clown.lu)
